We are focusing on European Exploration for the next few weeks in Social Studies. In Language Arts, we are learning how to write a pursuasive five paragraph essay. We are also learning how to "close read" a text for better understanding.  In Science, we are learning about cells and cell structures.  We finished up place value with very large numbers, and are getting ready to dive into factors and multiples this week.  Our spelling words this week include words with the suffix ible and academic vocabulary that goes with our science unit.  

Wow!  Last week was a whirlwind of learning about classroom procedures, community building, content knowledge!  I am so excited to continue this school year as your new 5th grade teacher. I know it's going to be a great year.  It has been amazing learning about how to classify all living things and about Mesoamerica!  I can't wait to continue filling our brains with knowledge together this year.
